SAN FRANCISCO _ Brandon Belt put the Giants ahead for good Sunday with a three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning in a 9-5 win over the Colorado Rockies at AT&T Park.
Belt, in one of the hottest streaks of his career, tied in to a 1-1 pitch from left-handed pitcher Jake McGee for his 11th home run of the season, driving in Gorkys Hernandez and Evan Longoria, to put the Giants up 8-5 in a game they trailed at one point 4-1.
Nick Hundley followed with a solo home run to left _ his fifth _ to put the Giants up 9-5 before a crowd of 40,334.
Sam Dyson, the fourth of six Giants pitchers, was the winning pitcher in relief.
Belt came in to the game in a 14-for-33 streak in his previous eight games with seven runs, four doubles, four homers and nine RBIs. He also had a single Sunday and leads the Giants with 29 RBIs.
The Giants, 24-24, trail second-place Colorado by a game and a half in the National League West and are two games behind Arizona. Both the Rockies and Diamondbacks are on the upcoming eight-game road trip, which begins in Houston on Tuesday against the defending World Series champion Astros.
The game was even at 5-5 after Nolan Arenado's third consecutive single scored Ian Desmond with no one out.
Desmond opened the inning by drawing a walk off Dyson and ended up at third base when on a steal of second, catcher Nick Hundley threw the ball in to center field.
Dyson escaped the inning without giving up another run, although he threw 26 pitches in the process.
Tomlinson's two-out triple to left-center in the sixth inning allowed the Giants to regain the lead, driving in Belt and Brandon Crawford.
Belt opened the inning with a single against starter Tyler Anderson, who then struck out Hundley but walked Crawford. That was it for Anderson, who was replaced by Bryan Shaw. After getting Austin Jackson on a fly to center, Tomlinson drove a line drive to the fence in left center to drive in both runs and put the Giants up 5-4.
The Giants got within 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth, courtesy of a two-run home run by Hernandez, his fourth of the season.
With one out and Miguel Gomez on first after delivering a pinch-hit single, Hernandez lifted a deep fly to center that kept carrying, with Charlie Blackmon making a valiant leap but coming up empty as the ball barely cleaned the fence.
The Rockies chased Blach from the game and scored twice in the fifth for 4-1 lead.
Anderson, the pitcher, singled to open the inning and was followed by a walk to Charlie Blackmon. After striking out Ian Desmond, Arenado singled and Cory Gearrin was summoned to face Trevor Story.
Story hit a ground ball to deep short, with Crawford attempting an off-balance throw to get the runner at the plate. Hundley couldn't handle the one-bounce throw, with a run scoring on an infield single. Gearrin later walked Noel Cuevas with the bases loaded to force in another run.
Colorado broke through against Blach in the fourth inning, with Arenado grounding a single past shortstop and scoring when Story doubled off the center field fence. Story scored on a line drive single up the middle by Cuevas to make it 2-1.
The Giants scored in the first when Buster Posey hit a one-out triple to right center and scored when Evan Longoria hit a line drive to center that was caught on a dive by Cuevas. Posey tagged up and scored on the sacrifice fly.
