Giants announce rookie jersey numbers: Daniel Jones will wear No. 8

In a true sign that rookie minicamp is on the horizon, the New York Giants have officially assigned jersey numbers to their entire 2019 NFL Draft class.

Although none of the 10 rookies have signed their initial contract, that’s no longer the serious issue it once was. With rookie contracts essentially guaranteed as part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), it’s only a matter of time before pen is put to paper.

However, since a new rookie class will be appearing in East Rutherford on Friday, they needed numbers. And now they have them.

Highlighted by first-round quarterback Daniel Jones, the new jersey numbers are as follows:

  • Daniel Jones – 8
  • Dexter Lawrence – 97
  • Deandre Baker – 35
  • Oshane Ximines – 53
  • Julian Love – 37
  • Ryan Connelly – 57
  • Darius Slayton – 86
  • Corey Ballentine – 25
  • George Asafo-Adjei – 78
  • Chris Slayton – 99

Ballentine, who was injured in an off-campus shooting over the weekend, has been asked to skip rookie minicamp and will not be in attendance.

Also, it’s worth noting that quarterback Kyle Lauletta currently wears No 17, which Jones wore in college at Duke. Additionally, the No. 53 worn by Harry Carson now adorns Ximines.

Before you go buy player jerseys, remember that they are likely (and in some case, certainly) going to change come training camp/preseason.
