Giants’ Andrew Thomas already hungry to block for Saquon Barkley

On Thursday night, the New York Giants went for an offensive tackle to finally addressed their years-long need at the position. The pick was Andrew Thomas out of Georgia, and the Giants’ front office is expecting big things.

The Giants have invested in their offense with their first pick in each of the past three drafts as well, selecting Daniel Jones in 2019, Saquon Barkley in 2018 and Evan Engram 2017. And they doubled-down on those investments by adding Thomas to protect Jones and open up running lanes for Barkley.

Thomas took to his Instagram on Friday to share an image of himself getting ready to block for Saquon Barkley:

Saquon did acknowledge the post with a few of the triumph emojis. The two are clearly already ready to get to work.

“I’ll do my best to protect the quarterback, open up lanes. It’s a blessing to be able to play with guys as talented as they are,” Thomas also said during a conference call with reporters. “I definitely want to protect the quarterback, but the run game, I love it.”

There is still plenty of work to do, even just along the offensive line, but the Giants now have a young core of Thomas and Will Hernandez on (likely) the left side of the line for years to come.
