Giants and QB Cooper Rush agree to renegotiated deal

Details have been released regarding the renegotiated deal between the New York Giants and quarterback Cooper Rush, who was claimed off waivers this week.

The 26-year-old Rush was signed as an drafted free agent by the Cowboys out of Central Michigan in 2017 and was waived this week when Dallas brought former Cincinnati Bengals starter Andy Dalton into the fold to back up Dak Prescott.

Rush appeared in five games for the Cowboys in his three seasons under head coach Jason Garrett, who is now the Giants’ offensive coordinator. He threw just three passes, completing one for two yards. He also rushed twice for a total of 13 yards.

“The move reunites Rush with ex-Cowboys coach/current Giants OC Jason Garrett. Garrett’s never-used backup behind Dak Prescott in Dallas, 26-year-old Rush will compete with Colt McCoy and Alex Tanney behind Daniel Jones in New York.

There is no evidence Rush is a serviceable NFL backup.” – Rotoworld

The Giants will go to camp this summer with five quarterbacks – Jones, Rush, McCoy, Tanney and Case Cookus, a UDFA out of Northern Arizona.
