Giants among NFL’s biggest risers in latest USA TODAY power rankings

The New York Giants very nearly bottomed out in the USA TODAY power rankings a week ago today, but a lot has changed since then.

Eli Manning has been benched in favor of rookie Daniel Jones, personnel changes have been made on the defensive side of the ball and Big Blue was able to pick up their first win of the season in a 32-31 defeat of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

As the result of that magical comeback on the shoulders of Danny Dimes, USA TODAY had the Giants among their biggest risers in their latest power rankings.

Largely getting lost in all this Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley injury hoopla is fact Big Blue has NFL’s worst defense north of South Beach.

With an eight-spot rise, the Giants now check in at No. 23 overall. The only team that saw a more substantial push up the mountain were the Houston Texans, who rose nine spots to No. 9 overall

Comparatively, the Washington Redskins fell two spots to No. 31 overall, the Philadelphia Eagles fell six spots to No. 18 overall and the Dallas Cowboys fell one spot to No. 4 overall.

The Miami Dolphins remain dead last at No. 32 overall, while the New England Patriots remain entrenched at No. 1 overall. And in the event you care, the New York Jets fell one spot to No. 29 overall.
