Giants’ Alex Wesley passes physical, removed from PUP list

The New York Giants are in need of any reinforcements at the wide receiver position, and on Wednesday, they will get one.

Prior to Wednesday’s afternoon practice, which will again be held indoors due to severe weather in the area, the Giants announced that rookie wide receiver Alex Wesley has passed his physical and been removed from the PUP list.

Wesley (5-foot-11, 190 pounds) was signed by the Giants as a free agent out of Northern Colorado following the conclusion of the 2019 NFL Draft. He was originally projected as a fifth-round pick.

Initially, it was believed that Wesley would be a bottom of the roster or practice squad guy, but given the team’s need for receivers, he’ll be afforded a much larger opportunity in the coming weeks.

Wesley ran a 4.45 40-yard dash at the 2019 NFL Combine in Indianapolis and was a three-time Big Sky Conference outdoor 400-meter dash champion at Northern Colorado. He also eclipsed 1,000 yards receiving in his final two seasons and was a two-time second team All-Big Sky selection.
