Giants’ Alec Ogletree, Tae Davis out vs. Redskins

The New York Giants will obviously be without running back Saquon Barkley (ankle) on Sunday afternoon against the Washington Redskins, but he’s not the only key player who will be MIA in Week 4.

In addition to Barkley, the Giants have ruled out inside linebackers Alec Ogletree (hamstring) and Tae Davis (concussion) against the Skins.

Neither Ogletree nor Davis were able to practice this week due to their respective injuries, paving the way for an interesting and somewhat concerning adjustment to the middle of their defense.

Rookie Ryan Connelly is expected to start in place of Ogletree and call defensive plays, while David Mayo and the returning Nate Stupar will see additional snaps as they fill in for Davis.

It wasn’t all bad news for the Giants, however.

In addition to defensive lineman Olsen Pierre (knee) returning to practice on Friday, wide receiver Cody Latimer has cleared concussion protocol and is expected to play on Sunday.

Wide receiver Bennie Fowler (hamstring) and linebacker Lorenzo Carter (elbow) are also expected to play.
