The New York Giants are serious about their special teams. The past several seasons under general manager Dave Gettleman they’ve slowly been building them up.
The hiring of Joe Judge as their head coach further exemplified their commitment. Now, they’ve added one of Judge’s key pieces from the Patriots in Nate Ebner.
Here are three things to know:

Three-time Super Bowl champ and former All-Pro
Ebner won three Super Bowls with the New England Patriots (XLIX, LI, LIII) and was named a second team All-Pro in 2016.

Ebner played for Urban Meyer in college
Ebner hails from Dublin, Ohio and played his college ball at Ohio State but did not play football until his junior season. Meyer has a close relationship with many of the Patriots coaches, especially Bill Belichick, which led to the Pats drafting Ebner in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

Ebner is both a rugby player and team owner
Ebner, who had played rugby in college, became a member of the U.S. National Team in 2016 and was also on the roster for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio
In 2018 Ebner, along with Pats teammate Patrick Chung, became minority owners in the New England Free Jacks, which is a Major League Rugby team.
