Giant snakes 'on loose in UK town' leave locals terrified as chilling photos circulate

Giant snakes reportedly on the loose in a town have left locals terrified with shocking photos of the creatures circulating.

Images which emerged on social media today appear to show the huge snakes on the ground by hi-viz clad workers in Greenock, Scotland.

Residents of the Inverclyde town have been shocked by the images which show the snakes longer than a human.

It is understood the pictures were taken near a pub and it is unclear how many loose.

A source told the Daily Record that one of the animals has died.

The No Context Inverclyde Twitter account released a video of the slithery customers.

In the video a man with a distinct West Coast accent can be heard saying 'f****** h*** man look at the size of it."

It is unclear what breed of snake the creatures are or how the animals came to be roaming around the streets.

A spokeswoman for the Scottish SPCA said they had received no reports of snakes in the town today.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "At around 3.25pm on Tuesday, 2 February, officers received a report regarding online posts relating to a snake which was believed to have been in the Greenock area.

"Officers have conducted a search of the area and no animal was found. Enquiries are continuing into the report."
