Giant’s QB Daniel Jones was 6 years old when Tom Brady and the Patriots broke his heart

Giants rookie QB Daniel Jones will get his first chance to face the GOAT, Tom Brady, tonight when the Giants face the Patriots on ‘TNF’ in New England.

The former Duke star told a story this week to ESPN about how he grew up a Carolina Panthers fan and remembered being heartbroken when he watched Brady and the Patriots beat Jake Delhomme and the Panthers in Super Bowl XXXVIII in Feb. 2004.

Jones was 6 years old then, Brady was 27 and going for his second Super Bowl, which the Patriots won on a last second field goal. Brady was named MVP of the game, too.

Jones told ESPN about that night:

“I remember where I watched it. Went to a friend’s house. The Dickens’ house. A family friend,” Jones told ESPN. “Obviously it was heartbreaking when [kicker Adam] Vinatieri made that field goal.”

Jones said he was way to young to have an ill-will toward Brady during that game:

“Not really,” said Jones, now 22. “Don’t think I knew that much at that age. Knew I liked the Panthers.”

It’s pretty incredible that Brady is still going strong at age 42 and now Jones will get to square off with him in a NFL game. Where does the time go?
