Giant Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games teacake up for sale for a cool £2,000

The sight of giant dancing Tunnock's teacakes whirling around was one of the most iconic moments of what was a truly memorable Commonwealth Games opening ceremony at Celtic Park back in 2014.

Now one lucky person has been afforded the chance to get their hands on one of the giant teacakes after it was put up for sale on Gumtree as its owner has 'no place to store it' it's so big.

The seller, listed as Brian from Kilmarnock, is hoping someone with a fondness for the much-loved treat or who feels a sharp sense of nostalgia for the event will stump up the £2,000 asking price.

A price that, by our calculations, could buy you around 12,000 actual teacakes from the supermarket.

The listing also notes that it is the 'actual tea cake used at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014' and unless we are mistaken, we'll take their word for it.

It's over six years since the eyes of the world fell on Glasgow for the Games - and the opening ceremony sure did show people how we love a party.

The event itself was an incredible success, bringing 700,000 visitors to Glasgow and cementing its status as a city fit to stage high-profile events.
