Giant cruise ship Jewel of the Seas returns to Liverpool cruise terminal today

One of the largest cruise vessels to be seen in Liverpool will be making a return visit today (Saturday).

The Jewel of the Seas, operated by Royal Caribbean, offers sweeping ocean views with three acres of glass windows. It is due to arrive at the cruise terminal by around 10am, and leave shortly before 8pm.

The 90,000-tonne ship - which can accommodate a total of 2,702 passengers - is currently on a 12-day British Isles tour which began and will end in Amsterdam. As well as Liverpool, the itinerary includes various stopovers in Scotland, along with Belfast, Cork, Guernsey, and Dover.

The Jewel of the Seas is hard to miss at 106ft wide and 962ft long. The vessel offers a variety of features and experiences, from a rock climbing wall and a mini-golf course, to specialty restaurants and a poolside movie screen. The ship's maiden voyage was in 2004 and it underwent a £20m renovation in April 2016.

The Jewel of the Seas last visited the city's cruise terminal earlier this month.
