FIFA president Gianni Infantino has paid tribute to Scotland supporter Donny Strathie, following last night's World Cup match with Morocco.

Just hours after their 1-0 win over Haiti last Saturday, 76-year-old Strathie passed away in Boston, having travelled from Scotland to support the national team as a member of the Tartan Army.

A post shared by Gianni Infantino - FIFA President (@gianni_infantino)

In the 76th minute of Friday's match, football fans in attendance took time to commemorate Strathie, with Infantino posting his own condolences on Instagram.

Accompanying the post, which includes a video showing the tribute in action, Infantino wrote, "Ahead of Scotland’s game against Morocco in Boston, we took a moment to pay tribute to the late Scotland fan Donny Strathie, who had travelled to the United States to watch his nation play at the FIFA World Cup.

Despite an improved performance in the second half, Scotland fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Morocco.

Their final match of the group stage takes place in Miami against Brazil, who defeated Haiti 3-0 on Friday evening.
