Gianluca Lapadula is Celtic transfer target as Hoops make 'concrete offer' for Peruvian international

Celtic have made a “concrete offer” for Peruvian striker Gianluca Lapadula.

That’s according to reports in the player’s homeland and in Italy, where the front man plies his trade with Serie B side Benevento.

Libero in Peru claim that Lapadula is valued at £8.5million but his club and the Hoops have made a bid, although whether Celtic 's reported "bid" matches the asking price is unknown.

Lapadula was part of the Peru squad that reached the semi-finals of this summer’s Copa America, losing to eventual runners-up Brazil.

His displays in the tournament coupled with Benevento’s relegation from Serie A last season means he’s a wanted man this summer.

Benevento need cash in order to sign players themselves in an attempt to win promotion back to the top flight at the first time of asking.

And Ange Postecoglou is on the look-out for a striker with Odsonne Edouard attracting serious interest from Brighton and Leigh Griffiths’ long-term future at the club uncertain.

Lapadula, who was born in Torino but represents Peru, netted eight times in 38 Serie A appearances last season.

The 31-year-old counts Parma, AC Milan and genoa amongst his former clubs.

He enjoyed his best goalscoring season back in 2011/12 when he hit 24 goals on loan at San Marino Calcio.
