Giancarlo Stanton hits first home run of the year out of the stadium

New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton hit his first home run of 2019 on Friday against the Tigers, and his colossal shot off pitcher Matthew Boyd flew out of George M. Steinbrenner Field.

Stanton’s longest home run of 2018 traveled 458 feet, and he may have crushed this ball even further. The left-center wall at the Yankees’ spring training home is 399 feet from the plate, and the ball sailed over the seating area.

Stanton hit 38 home runs in his first season with the Yankees, and the team set a new MLB record with 267 home runs in the 2018 season. The Yankees will open the regular season at home against the Baltimore Orioles on March 28th.
