Giacom adds £10m in sales as cloud services become the IT choice for companies in Covid world

Cloud software specialist Giacom World Networks Ltd has seen sales soar by 20 per cent to £58.6 million in a year in which it changed ownership again.

The Hessle-based principal sponsor of Hull City supplies services to IT companies who in turn support thousands of small businesses across the UK.

And huge transitions in the sector as companies adapted and accelerated to a new way of working through the coronavirus pandemic have seen the high-growth business push on again.

Giacom, bought out by Daisy Group in late 2020, then sold to Panther Group in early 2021 as part of Digital Wholesale Solutions, revealed the results as it anticipates further growth in 2022.

Mike Wardell, chief executive, said: “The directors anticipate further growth in the coming year as adoption of cloud software continues as businesses continue to move away from on-premise solutions which in addition to more cloud services being deployed, provide richer application set for business and contribution to market growth.”

And employee numbers have matched turnover growth, up 22 per cent from 71 to 87 at Bridge haven One on Saxon Way.

Almost 80 per cent of the team are from the area, a source of pride for the team.

Mr Wardell said: “We continue to place our staff as our number one priority, and want our staff to feel at home as they grow and develop within their roles and careers. As we continue a hybrid working approach, we aim to help our staff have a better work life balance, while providing them with an office space that helps them to relax and socialise with one another. “Investing in our community is important to us too, and we are extremely proud of our Hull heritage.”

Giacom has recently filed results for an eight month period to Companies House as it aligns with new ownership, with £40.6 million in sales for the eight months to March 31, 2021, compared to £48.8 million in 2020. Operating profit of £3 million was recorded.

October also saw a new partnership with cyber security giant Sophos emerge, having been chosen as one of three UK managed service provider distributors.

It saw a new department created with a hired in-house Sophos specialist team.

2021 also saw Giacom shortlisted for 16 awards in the UK technology, software distribution and regional business sectors, winning five of them plus one ‘highly commended’.
