Ghostbuster Bill Murray 'involved in four-vehicle crash' in St Andrews

Bill Murray has reportedly been involved a four-vehicle crash outside a golf course in St Andrews.

The Hollywood actor is said to have been sitting in the passenger side of a Mercedes E Class when it crashed on Greyfriar’s Gardens at 12.55pm on Tuesday.

A Jeep Wrangler, Ford Transit and a Citreon C4 were also involved.

Police Scotland have said that no one was seriously injured in the crash.

However, images from the golf course show the Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day star practicing his swing with a bandage around his hand.

The 69-year-old is due to joining stars such as Justin Timberlake and footballer Luis Figo at the Old Course as part of The 2019 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on Thursday.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Officers were called to Grayfriar’s Gardens, St Andrews, at around 12.55pm after a four-vehicle crash on Tuesday.

“No one was injured in the incident and owners of each of the cars exchanged insurance details.”

Organisers of the tournament have reassured fans that the actor is fit to play.

Roger Kelly, head of communications for Alfred Dunhill Links, said: "A car that had taken Bill Murray into St Andrews was in a minor accident, nobody was hurt.

"Bill Murray was not in the car at the time of the collision, he was not injured, and he will be playing in the Championship."
