Detained former Nissan Motor Co. Chairman Carlos Ghosn could be released on bail as soon as Friday, according to sources, after the Tokyo District Court rejected prosecutors' request to extend his detention.
The Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office on Thursday appealed the decision by the Tokyo District Court to reject extending the detention of Ghosn and Kelly.
Ghosn and former Nissan Representative Director Greg Kelly were rearrested on suspicion of violating the Financial Instruments and Exchange Law and the duration of detention for their rearrest was to end Thursday.
The Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office's request to extend Kelly's detention was also rejected by the court, meaning he might also be released on bail around the same time as Ghosn.
