HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Contractors' Association has decided to continue their "No payment, No work" protest as they have not received any assurance from GHMC commissioner Lokesh Kumar on clearing pending bills.
The association on Friday visited the GHMC head office to discuss the release of dues over Rs 800 crore pending since January 30. There are almost 2,000 contractors from the 30 GHMC circles who are demanding release of pending dues.
"We went to meet the commissioner, but couldn't meet him as he was busy in some other meeting. The additional commissioner of finance who met us instead of the commissioner said that they will release the February payment in a few days, but was not able to give us any assurance for the payment from March," said S Bhaskar, Malkajgiri president, GHMC Contractors' Association.
"We requested him to at least give assurance for releasing payment pending from March to resume work, but did not get any response," he added. "Further action would be announced based on commissioner's response. For now, we have decided not to take up any work. We will be forced to hold demonstrations," aassociation general secretary R Hanumanth Sagar told TOI.
