Students from a number of schools in Ghaziabad got a high Cumulative Grade Points Average (CGPA) score in the class 10 results declared on Saturday afternoon by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Many began thinking of their future professions on the basis of these results.
The CGPA is the average of grade points obtained in all subjects, excluding the sixth additional subject as per the scheme of the exam.
Yamini Tomar, a student of Gurukul - The school at Dasna, NH-24, scored a high CGPA of 9.6. She said, “It has been self-study throughout the year. I like physics, chemistry and biology, which will now help me become a doctor as I want to become a doctor with the Indian Army. My grandfather served the army and used to tell me the tough conditions our soldiers worked in. His tales inspired me a lot.”
Anurag Singh, a student of Khaitan Public School, Rajendra Nagar, who scored a CGPA of 10, said, “I am eyeing the medical profession, but may also become a researcher. I devoted three hours every day to studies and never missed a single day.”
In Delhi Public School Ghaziabad (Meerut Road), around 314 students appeared for class 10 examinations this year. Out of these, 200 students scored of CGPA of 10.
“We hold personal contact classes after school hours with students who need extra classes. We also conduct asset management with students who are potential cent percenters and a lot of resources are prepared for students,” said Jyoti Gupta, principal, DPSG (Meerut Road).
In DPS, Indirapuram, 176 out of the 475 students who appeared for the exam scored a perfect 10 CGPA. The school also had a 100% success rate
Likewise, 28 students of Amity International School, Vasundhara, Sector 1 scored a CGPA of 10 from a total of 71 class 10 students. In the school’s branch in Sector 6 of Vasundhara, 61 of 130 students scored a CGPA of 10.
“The result has been exemplary, though this is the last batch under the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) pattern. Students were engaged in a multitude of scholastic and co-scholastic activities throughout the year and the grades reflect their yearlong efforts,” said Sunila Athley, principal, Amity International School, Sector 6, Vasundhara.
