GHAZIABAD: Five months after a Ghaziabad family filed a complaint of being duped of Rs 1 lakh on the pretext of a job in Dubai, an FIR has been registered in the case.
According to the complainant Shahnaz from a Masuri-based village, the fraudster had promised her son a salary of Rs 60,000 in Dubai. The woman had given Rs 1 lakh to the accused and received a hotel booking slip for Dubai along with an offer letter. However, the offer turned out to be fake when the son reached Dubai.
Shahnaz told TOI that her complaint was lodged on Sunday only after she threatened the SHO of Masuri police station of going to the IG’s office.
According to Shahnaz, she met one Vakeel last year who too belongs to the same area. He told her that he can help her son get a job in Dubai. For this, she would have to pay him Rs 1 lakh. “On December 24, 2021, my son Imraan left for Dubai. Vakeel had given him a flight ticket and some documents and had asked him to go to a hotel where a room was already booked for him. However, when he reached the hotel, the staff there denied having any booking in his name. Later, he came to know that he didn't get any job and Vakeel had defrauded us,” said Shahnaz.
“Following his return on January 8, we went to Masuri police station but the SHO refused to lodge an FIR in the case. We have been going to the police station since the past five months, but to no avail. On Sunday, when we threatened the SHO to go to the IG’s office, only then he lodged the FIR,” added the woman. “One police team has been formed to nab him. We are checking if the SHO or any cop refused to lodge the case. If any irregularities are found, action will be taken against the officer,” said SP (rural) Iraj Raja.
