Ghaziabad: 4 steal tubewell motor, thrashed

GHAZIABAD: Four people, including a woman, were beaten up by a group of residents in Masuri early on Thursday morning for allegedly stealing the engine of a tubewell from a farm.

Mukram, a resident of Ksuhaliya village in Masuri, said that when he reached his farm around 6am, the engine of the tubewell was missing.

According to police, the accused have been identified as Jisaan (19), Murasleen (20), Sohail (20) and Afsana (35), the woman, all residents of Dasna. Another accused, Saleem, however, managed to escape.

RC Pant, SHO of Masuri police station, said, “After getting information from the locals, a police team reached the spot around 9am and arrested the accused. “During interrogation, the accused told us that they had been stealing tubewell engines for the past six months. The woman joined the gang in 2021.”

On the basis of a complaint, an FIR was registered against the accused under sections 379 (theft) and 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of IPC.
