Ghana XI vs Cape Verde: No Kudus - Starting lineup, confirmed team news and injury latest for AFCON game today

Mohammed Kudus misses out as Ghana meet Cape Verde in the Africa Cup of Nations tonight.

The Black Stars haven’t lifted the AFCON title since all the way back in 1982 despite being one of the continent’s traditional superpowers.

Knocked out at the group stage two years ago by minnows Comoros in dramatic and embarrassing fashion, Chris Hughton is looking to inspire a rapid-fire turnaround.

Still, things haven’t really clicked under the former Brighton and Newcastle manager just yet. Ghana have now dropped out of the top 60 in the FIFA world rankings.

There will be no Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey either. His ongoing injury problems saw him omitted from the squad entirely.

Starting Ghana XI: Ofori; Odoi, Dijku, Salisu, Mensah; Ashimeru, Baba; Painstil, Konigsdorffer, Ayew; Semenyo

Subs: Seidu, Opoku, Ayew, Bukari, Wollacott, Owusu, Zigi, Amartey, Williams, Samed, Nuamah, Sowah

Time and date: 8pm GMT on Sunday January 14, 2024

Venue: Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny in Abidjan
