Getting the train and bus from Bolton to Manchester

While you may think you have everything you need in Bolton, on the odd occasion you may have to head into Manchester city centre.

As one of Greater Manchester's 10 metropolitan boroughs, Bolton isn't too far away - approximately 12.5 miles out.

For this reason, it also makes the UK's biggest town a great commuter spot for those wanting to work in the city.

Bus

There are a few buses from Bolton to Manchester (Nick Harrison)

Bolton Interchange -> Shudehill Interchange Manchester

Buses 8 and X8 goes from Bolton - Moses Gate - Farnworth - Kearsley - Pendlebury - Pendleton - Manchester.

The journey takes roughly 1hr 10minutes.

Bus 37 goes from Bolton - Farnworth - Walkden - Swinton - Manchester.

Bus 36 goes from Bolton - Little Hulton - Walkden - Swinton - Pendleton - Manchester.

Bolton Interchange

Bolton's Interchange is a transport hub combining Bolton Railway Station and Bolton Bus Station.

The station is located on the Manchester to Preston line and the Ribble Valley line - operated by Northern.
