Getting babies to sleep means a trip involving Twinkle, twinkle, little car

THOUSANDS of frantic Scottish parents are taking to the road in a bid to take their babies to the land of Nod, according to research.

Some 21 per cent of sleep-deprived parents even admit to driving as far as 40 miles in a bid to get tots to doze off.

Meanwhile, 26 per cent travel up to 20 miles, while 13 per cent will take on a 50-mile trip if it means their offspring will fall into a slumber.

The study from the online car marketplace heycar also discovered that motorways are the most favoured option (28 per cent) for successfully getting under-ones to sleep.

And when it comes to background music to sooth fractious babies, nursery rhyme Twinkle Twinkle Little Star emerged as the most popular song choice.

The survey comes after the firm discovered selecting the right car seat remains a puzzle for many parents – with 37 per cent revealing they don’t know which one to buy. To help, heycar now has a simple car seat chooser on its website.

Boss Vik Barodia said: “As a parent of three kids, I know from first-hand experience how daunting the process can be to choose car seats to ensure your little ones are as safe and comfortable as they can be.

“With the heycar car seat chooser, we want to take away the hassle, provide peace of mind and leave families free to enjoy a summer of hitting the road to explore new places and meet friends and family we’ve all been separated from for too long.”
