Getting a train to London over half-term? You'll be getting a bus, too

People travelling to London St Pancras from Nottingham by train over half-term face longer journey times and fewer services because of planned improvement works.

No trains will call at Market Harborough station between Tuesday May 28 and Sunday June 2.

That means passengers face a replacement coach journey, which will add to travel time.

There will be four coaches per hour between Leicester and Market Harborough (in both directions) running at 15 minute intervals.

East Midlands Trains said: "A major upgrade of the station and railway at Market Harborough will be taking place between 25th May and 2nd June.

This work forms part of the Midland Mainline upgrade and will deliver quicker peak time services, better parking, longer platforms, and improved facilities for people with mobility issues.

"Whilst the work is taking place at Market Harborough, the section of the Midland Main Line which runs between Kettering and Leicester will be closed."

For passengers travelling from East Midlands Parkway, two trains per hour will continue to run to London St Pancras.

But for passengers travelling from Beeston or Nottingham, there will only be direct train to London St Pancras per hour. East Midlands Trains says that for these passengers, it may be quicker to go via East Midlands Parkway.
