Getafe vs Barcelona
La Liga 2018-19
Venue: Coliseum Alfonso Perez
Date: Sunday, 6 January, 2019
Kick-off: 7:45pm GMT
Barcelona return to action in La Liga on Sunday after the winter break as they travel to Getafe in the 18th round of matches.
The champions and league leaders are currently three points clear of Atletico at the top of the table, with fierce rivals Real Madrid seven adrift in fourth place.
Ernesto Valverde’s side have won their past four fixtures in La Liga since their 1-1 draw at Atletico on November 24th and will look to extend their run in Madrid on Sunday.
Team news
Barcelona are still without Samuel Umtiti as the France defender continues to struggle with a knee problem and his absence means compatriot Clement Lenglet will feature again alongside Gerard Pique in central defence on Sunday.
Thomas Vermaelen is also out, but Barca have brought in centre-back Jeison Murillo as cover on loan from Valencia and the Colombian could be on the bench against Getafe.
Rafinha is out for the rest of the season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in November, but Sergi Roberto is available again after injury and could play some part on Sunday.
Barcelona (4-3-3): Ter Stegen; Semedo, Pique, Lenglet, Alba; Busquets, Rakitic, Vidal; Dembele, Suarez, Messi
Score prediction: Getafe 1-2 Barcelona
Barcelona came from behind to win 2-1 in this fixture last season and the Liga leaders look set to be in for another tough test this time around against Jose Bordalas’ in-form side.
Getafe are currently in seventh place with 25 points and have not been beaten in any of their past five fixtures.
Barca should still win this one, but they are likely to have to work hard for the points against a team that have not conceded more than twice in any of their league games so far this season.
