On September 23, 2025, President Donald Trump’s visit to the United Nations headquarters was marked with extreme chaos.
With an escalator breakdown and a teleprompter malfunction, Trump’s visit was eventful to say the least. The double jeopardy quite naturally led to ongoing conversations among the masses, especially politically right-leaning people.
Several of Trump’s allies, through their social media platforms, primarily X (previously Twitter), demanded an investigation into the matter. Prominent among these names was White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who wrote on X:
“If someone at the UN intentionally stopped the escalator as the President and First Lady were stepping on, they need to be fired and investigated immediately.”
Leavitt also attached a screenshot of a news article from The Times, which alluded to alleged ill intent in the escalator incident. The piece mentioned that UN staff members were heard joking about stopping the escalators when President Donald Trump would come in.
JD Vance, Vice President of the United States, also addressed the situation and wrote a few words on X. Steering clear of accusing anyone, he complimented the President for overcoming the shortcomings of the situation and delivering a “clear” and “reasonable” address. He said in his post:
“All kidding aside did everyone notice how despite the lack of a teleprompter, he delivered a clear, reasonable address on US foreign policy? It’s nice to have a president with a brain!”
Vance’s comments about Donald Trump were met with a lot of criticism. One user commented while poking fun at him:
“Did you just say, “a clear, reasonable address (by Trump). Get yourself checked with a neuropsychiatrist, Vance, and do it ASAP!”
Several others also echoed a similar sentiment. One user commented:
“If you find one, let me know. The current one is a moron, and that’s being charitable.”
Another user said:
“…did everyone notice…”We noticed an angry, arrogant old man belittling other global leaders, bragging with utterly false claims, pleading for undeserved honors, and losing his train of thought as usual. But sure…call that “clear” and “reasonable.”
