After a major renovation, the Chanel boutique reopened its doors at Siam Paragon earlier this month. A long-time collaborator of the fashion house, architect Peter Marino redesigned the 480m² space, drawing on hallmarks established by founder Gabrielle Chanel, such as the black, white and beige palette.
The inspiration also comes from the couturière's apartment on the 2nd floor, atop the boutique at the legendary address 31 Rue Cambon in Paris.
Clients are welcomed to make themselves feel at home and relax on custom sofas while the layout encourages a feeling of intimacy in exploring the store.
The two entrances lead into a succession of spacious rooms and salons dedicated to the different product categories, ranging from handbags and ready-to-wear to watches and shoes.
The reopening introduced the latest Cruise 2021/22 collection, of which the emblematic tweed illustrates its modernity on a sleeveless jacket woven from ribbons, on suits with fringes as well as a pink and black suit with crocheted braid.
In the tradition of the founder's artistic patronage, various objects and works of modern art enhance both the iconography of the maison and the collections on display.
A series of three works by American artist Patrick Hill welcomes visitors into the shoe space while a stunning chandelier by the goldsmith Goossens and an engraved brass coffee table by Michael Pohu furnish one of the ready-to-wear salons.
The fitting rooms feature a brass and silver glass mirror by designer duo Curtis Jeré as well as a painting by New York-based artist Peter Dayton representing camellias, Gabrielle Chanel's favourite flower.
