Get your 2019 Chiefs Kingdom flags today during Red Friday celebration

Kansas City Chiefs football finally returns on Sunday.

That means today marks the first Red Friday of the 2019 season. To celebrate the occasion, volunteers will be out in force at over 135 Kansas City-area McDonald’s restaurants selling this year’s Chiefs Kingdom flags. They will be sold for a minimum donation of $5.00 with proceeds benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City.

Chiefs Kingdom flags will also be available for purchase at Kansas City-area Hy-Vee and CommunityAmerica Credit Union locations. For out of town fans, they’ll also be available for purchase at the Chiefs.com online shop starting on Friday, Sept. 6. So if you can’t get out to McDonald’s in Kansas City, you’ll be able to purchase a flag online.

The flag design this year is special as it features a logo designed to celebrate the Chiefs’ 60th season as a franchise. The same logo will also be worn as a helmet decal by Chiefs players this season. Here’s a look at the flag design courtesy of Chiefs rookie safety Juan Thornhill:

According to the Chiefs’ official press release, more than $323,000 was raised from Chiefs Kingdom flag sales in 2018. Over the past five years, flag sales have raised over $1.2 million to help Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City. Their mission is to help families that are struggling in times of sickness and need.

If you happen to pick up a flag today, be sure to take a picture and share it with us on Facebook or Twitter.
