'Get Upamecano!' - Arsenal fans send transfer message to Edu as Pablo Mari returns to Brazil

Rumours that the Pablo Mari to Arsenal loan deal might not go ahead has prompted a huge reaction from supporters.

Initially, it was suggested that the 26-year-old was to join the Gunners in a deal worth £7.5m. However, it quickly became apparent that was not the case.

Football.london reported over the weekend that Arsenal were working on a deal for the Flamengo centre-back as they look to strengthen in central defence before Friday's deadline.

The Gunners are looking to bring in Mari on loan with an option to make the deal permanent in the summer and Goal.com even caught up with the 26-year-old at Heathrow airport on Saturday afternoon and he had a message for Arsenal fans ahead of undergoing a medical at London Colney.

Asked if he's excited to join the Gunners, Mari had a three word response:

"Yes of course."

But there's suggestions that this deal won't go ahead.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, the 26-year-old's move to the Emirates Stadium could be at risk of collapsing after a late hitch in negotiations between the Gunners and Flamengo.

The player travelled to London for talks over the weekend, and it was expected that a deal would be concluded imminently, but the report claims the defender has flown back to Brazil 'disappointed', with the north London outfit now assessing their options.

As expected, this has got Arsenal fans talking.
