Get up to £2.50 for your empties with Lidl's new recycling scheme - here's how it works

Lidl is offering customers up to £2.50 back on their shopping for their empty cans and bottles with their new deposit return scheme .

In an effort to encourage more Scots to recycle, the popular supermarket has launched its first money-back recycling points in Hamilton, Edinburgh Granton, Glasgow Yoker, and Dundee city centre.

Undamaged plastic bottles, glass bottles and aluminium cans are worth 10p each, with a voucher up to £2.50 redeemable to spend in the store.

Any empty bottles and cans originally purchased in Lidl, can be returned to dedicated recycling points at these stores where shoppers will be rewarded with a redeemable voucher.

What is included in Lidl’s deposit return scheme?

Shoppers can earn cash vouchers for recycling:

  • Soda bottles and cans

  • Water bottles

  • Wine bottles

  • Beer bottles

  • All aluminium cans

As part of the Scottish Government’s ambitious target to roll-out a nationwide deposit return scheme, Lidl plans to have dedicated facilities in all Lidl stores across Scotland by July 2022.
