'Get this saga over with' - Arsenal fans react after Wilfried Zaha's African Cup of Nations exit

Wilfried Zaha will be on his way back to England, after his Ivory Coast side lost out in the African Cup of Nations tie against Algeria on Thursday evening. The Ivorian winger played the majority of his nation's crucial game, assisting Jonathan Kodjia's second half strike to draw his team level.

The two sides were unable to be separated throughout the 90 minutes and extra time, meaning that the tie was decided via a penalty shootout. Misses from Wilfried Bony and Serey Die proved to be fatal and saw opponents Algeria progress to the semi-final of the competition.

Zaha was involved in a lot of action throughout the game, including the opponents attempting, unsuccessfully, to get the 26-year-old sent off.

The Palace provided an assist, but one shot in particular, that went out for a throw in also caught the eye of fans who were watching the game.

Among the watching fans would have been a contingent of Arsenal supporters, eager to see what their transfer target could produce on the international stage.

The Gunners have made an unsuccessful bid of £40m for the player, with Palace looking for a fee more in the region of £80m. But the Eagles may be forced into lowering their asking price due to the player's desire to swap Selhurst Park for the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Latest reports suggest that any progress on a possible deal will happen after Zaha returns from international duty, and Ivory Coast's elimination from the tournament has got some fans excited that the saga could take a twist in favour of the Gunners.

Arsenal fans were watching the game, and took to social media throughout, here's some of their reactions.
