Get the look: Lauren Luke's going for gold

Start with a matt cream primer - I use Mac's Prep & Prime Eye - and spread all over and up to the brow. It's good below the lower lash line, too: it sticks well, but wipes off easily. I then pack on Mac's Gold Metallic Pigment with an eye shadow brush. Above the crease of the eye, blend gently out. Photograph: Hong Gyoung Tae

Take a black liquid eyeliner. For a perfect line, start in the middle of the eyelid, brush towards the outer edge, then brush from the middle to the inner corner. Worried about wobble? Rest your little finger on your cheek. Photograph: Hong Gyoung Tae

To complement the gold, I've used a darkish plum blusher - smile into the mirror and, with a soft brush, gently sweep up towards the hairline - we're after a soft and natural effect here, with no harsh lines. Photograph: Hong Gyoung Tae
