While works remain underway on Rose Street, an Edinburgh pub has come up with a clever way to keep customers coming through the door by having some tongue-in-cheek banter with the council - and we love it.
Staff at Auld Hundred have taken matters into their own hands as resurfacing works, which started last year, remain in place on the busy city centre route - between Frederik Street and Hanover Street.
The boozer, which is owned by the Signature Pub Group, have erected signage that reads "auld hindrance" and "excellent" "timing" "Edinburgh" "Council", as well as "get stuffed" "Edinburgh" "Council".
But there's no bad blood here, it's just bit of friendly banter as the pub reminds passersby that it is business as usual, offering traditional pub grub, great beer, live music, a quiz night and they are even showing the Six Nations.
Charlotte Hughes, general manager of Auld Hundred, said: “It’s just a bit of banter from the team here at Auld Hundred – we thought we’d make the best of a bad situation.
“We’re still open as usual and we’re looking forward to the Six Nations action over the weekend, as well as live music nights on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, open mic night on Monday and quiz night on Tuesday.”
As reported by Edinburgh Live, the pub group - which also brought Cold Town House to the Grassmarket - opened another local venue at the start of the year, McLarens on the Corner; a family-friendly gastropub in the heart of Morningside.
