It's time to brush away the Halloween cobwebs and dust off your festive cheer, Nottingham's Christmas tree has landed in Slab Square.
The 64ft grand fir arrived this morning (Friday, November 1) marking the end of Old Market Scare and the start of the two-week Winter Wonderland build.
One crane operator and two other workmen were needed to put the 1.8 tonne beast into place in front of Nottingham Council House, where it will stay until after New Year.
Before long the Christmas tree, which would have taken around 36 years to grow to its current size, will be decorated with a staggering 4,000 red and white lights - so fingers crossed they aren't tangled.
The tree and the council house lights will be illuminated for the first time on Friday, November 15, just after sunset.
This year, the Lord Mayor and Sheriff of Nottingham, Councillors Liaqat Ali and Patience Uloma Ifediora, will do the honours.
Other decorations in the city centre will include a festive display on the council house façade, 26 cross-road features, more than 120 column-mounted decorations and a 10 metre tall contemporary tree at Canning Circus with 10,000 pea lights.
Nottingham's Winter Wonderland will open the same day from 11am and includes an all-glass bar with panoramic views of the market and a 30-metre long toboggan ride.
