'Get out of here' - Arsenal fans split in opinion over Edu's £35m Ruben Neves decision

Arsenal supporters have been reacting to Sunday's report claiming the club are interested in signing Ruben Neves this summer.

According to The Times, the Gunners have 'begun work' on a deal to try and sign the Wolves midfielder, with the Midlands-based club placing him on the transfer list to try and get more funds for their incoming manager Bruno Lage.

However, the report also claims that Arsenal have missed out in the race to sign Odsonne Edouard, with Leicester City set to sign the Celtic striker for £15million this summer.

This theoretically frees up that £15m to instead put on Neves, which makes sense given Roma's pursuit of Granit Xhaka.

Some Arsenal fans believe this represents good business from their club, while others think Neves is not an upgrade on Xhaka, who could leave the Emirates Stadium soon.

The link to Neves comes immediately after football.london learned Aston Villa are leading the race to sign Norwich City playmaker Emi Buendia.

The Gunners launched a £30m bid for Buendia on Thursday, but the offer was matched by Villa, who now hold the advantage.

football.london understands Arsenal are in the market for at least five new recruits this summer, with Mikel Arteta and Edu keen to improve on last season's bitter disappointment.

As well as bringing in a host of new players, many are set to depart the Emirates as well - with central midfield pairing Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira both being linked with an exit following respective loan spells at Hertha Berlin and Atletico Madrid last season.

As mentioned above, Xhaka could also end his five-year association with the north London club, with just over two years remaining on his deal.
