'Get in there!' - Arsenal fans go nuts as Raul Sanllehi 'confirms' Dayot Upamecano transfer

Could Dayot Upamecano be the answer to Arsenal's defensive woes in 2020?

The Gunners bolstered their defensive options in the summer by signing David Luiz from Chelsea and Kieran Tierney from Celtic, but the latter is yet to feature in the Premier League while the Brazilian hasn't made much of a different in all honesty.

William Saliba was also recruited but he won't join up with his new teammates until next summer after being loaned back to Saint-Etienne to continue his progress.

Prior to signing Luiz, Upamecano was being heavily linked with a move to the Emirates.

In fact there was talk of a swap deal involving Emile Smith Rowe, but in the end Arsenal had a bid - thought to be in the region of £50million - rejected by RB Leipzig who were said to be holding out for a fee close to the defender's release clause of £82m.

However, in recent weeks talks of going back in for the Frenchman have resurfaced.

In a boost to the Gunners' hope of signing the him next summer, Kicker now claim the German club are worried about losing the 20-year-old on a free when his contract expires in 2021 and could now accept a lower offer.

All of which prompted one Arsenal fan to attempt to get an update from a trusted source.

Following Thursday night's Europa League win over Vitoria, a supporter - by the Twitter handle @huncho_bfd - caught up with Head of Football Raul Sanllehi and asked him "Upamecano 2020?".

Of course as seen in the video, Sanllehi didn't confirm or deny this rumour.

Rather he laughed it off which has prompted some Arsenal fans to get rather excited on Twitter...
