Get a first look at Newcastle's newest bar Market Shaker as it opens in time for Bank Holiday

Go back a few months and it was still another venue, but now work on Newcastle's newest bar is complete as it opens its doors right on time for Bank Holiday weekend.

Given that it is owned by two of the Newcastle nightlife scene's most well known faces - Tommy Byron and Rob Clarkson - anticipation has been high for the opening of Market Shaker from the moment the enterprising duo announced their plans to transform the Ember Lounge on the Cloth Market, opposite Revolucion de Cuba.

Revealing their new venture to the world as 'a bar, dancehall and garden', Tommy and Rob have been hard at work ever since on bringing their ambitious ideas to life.

And the results of the vast £350,000 refurbishment, as you can see from our gallery of pictures below and video above, the venue looking completely different to its former guise.

The new interior offers natural light, leather booth seating and installations designed by local artists and bi-fold doors lead out into a large flamingo adorned beer garden, with an all-season heated pergola providing shelter from the elements.

And it's not just the aesthetics that are different - Market Shaker is a very different beast entirely to Ember Lounge.

The music policy at Market Shaker, billed as 'the new home of drinking, partying and late night dancing' is disco, funk and soul, all washed down with a vast array of beverages.

Lovers of mothers' ruin can sip from Gin Globes, while Aperol Spritz leads the way when it comes to the cocktail offerings in Newcastle's newest haunt.

Slice Wars winners Scream for Pizza will be on hand with their award winning creations to put a lining on your stomach. And there's two very tasty lunch time offers on their menu - a pizza slice and a house pint for £5 or a pizza slice and a soft drink for £3.

Market Shaker is at 32-34 Cloth Market.

Many people (including us!) are excited at the prospect of prosecco on tap, while beer and cider drinkers will be spoilt for choice with the likes of Wylam Brewery, Camden Hells, Pravha, Blue Moon, Beavertown and Rekorderlig all on draught.
