Gerwyn Price dedicates stunning PDC world title win to late mother with touching tribute

Gerwyn Price has dedicated his stunning PDC darts world title win to his late mother.

The Welshman saw off Gary Anderson at the PDC World Darts Championship final at Alexandra Palace on Sunday evening, becoming the first Welshman to win the title.

The 7-3 win over his Scottish opponent saw him also become the official best darts player in the world, knocking Michael van Gerwen off top spot of the rankings after seven years.

Soaking up the moment as he finally got his hands on the trophy in an empty Ally Pally, one particular moment saw an emotional Price, 35, look upwards.

Using this image, the new world champion posted a touching tribute to his late mother hours after the momentous win.

"There’s a shining light that looked down on everyone and there was one looking down on me all tournament, this one is for you MAM", he wrote on Instagram.

"Miss you more than words can say, wish you could be loving this dream with us all, love you and miss you so much..."

Price claimed the world title, became number one in the rankings - jumping from third - and won £500,000 in prize money with the dramatic win over Anderson.
