Gerwyn Price beats Stephen Bunting to reach PDC World Darts Championships final

Welshman Gerwyn Price reached the final of the PDC World Championships with a stunning victory over Stephen Bunting on Saturday night.

The world number three is now just one match away from the biggest prize in the sport and a £500,000 windfall.

Former rugby player Price came from 3-1 and 4-3 down to win 6-4 in sets during a dramatic contest at Alexandra Palace.

He is guaranteed to win at least £200,000 for reaching his first ever PDC final. It is also the first time a Welshman has reached the final.

Price hit nine double 10s out of nine to level up at 3-3 and surge ahead in the seventh set. But Bunting clawed his way back to snatch it and take a 4-3 lead after Price missed two set darts.

The Welshman refused to give in though, digging deep to break the Bunting throw in the eighth with a 12-darter that helped him take the set 3-1 and tie things up at 4-4.

Price then made it 5-4 with a commanding display in the ninth before sealing his place in the final with a 3-1 victory in the tenth.

The incredible match set a new record for the most 100-plus finishes in a PDC contest at 13

He will now face the winner of the second semi-final between Dave Chisnell and Gary Anderson.
