Gerry Flynn tells hilarious story about Marty Quinn and a flying Jaffa Cake

We all need something to laugh about when in isolation.

And former Irish League footballer and manager Gerry Flynn has been delivering some comedy gold.

Flynn - who won the Irish League with Cliftonville and the Irish Cup with Coleraine - is currently on lockdown at his home in Murcia, Spain.

To help people during the coronavirus crisis he has been recounting some hilarious football stories on Twitter.

And he recalled an absolute cracker about former Coleraine manager Marty Quinn - and a flying Jaffa Cake.

"On this day we were 1-0 down to Limavady United, and at half-time everyone races off the pitch to get the Jaffa Cakes," Flynn says.

He adds: "Wee Barry Curran's fighting over the Jaffa Cakes with Rory Hamill, and Rory's saying 'you're not getting any, you're not getting any'.

"Quinner walks in and first thing he does is light a cigarette up, with his back turned to us. Meanwhile, wee Barry is still shouting at Rory Hamill about the Jaffa Cakes.

"So Rory throws one at him, but wee Barry is only two foot tall. The Jaffa Cake bangs off the wall, rolls down the bench and right into the Marty's turn-ups on his trousers.

"A few of us start to see it, and start sniggering, and you know Marty is going to go buck mad.

"All the boys are starting to look down and you can see the the Jaffa Cake moving in his turn-up. He starts to look at Hamill and (Stuart) Clenaghan, and he goes buck mad.

"He shouts: 'What are youse laughing at, you think this is funny? 1-0 down! 1-0 down! And you, Hamill, look at the sitter you just missed! Give me that ball, let me show you how it's done!'.

"As he gets the ball, he gives it a big boot, the Jaffa Cake flies out of his turn-up and right in between the eyes.

"The boys just burst out laughing, and we went out and won 3-1."
