Germany manager Joachim Low offers injury update on Man City winger Leroy Sane

Joachim Low is happy with Leroy Sane's recovery as the Germany manager plots his squad for Euro 2020.

The Manchester City winger was a shock admission from the 2018 World Cup squad that were embarrassingly knocked out in the group stage, Sane culled from the final 23 despite being named the PFA Young Player of the Year for his role in the Centurions campaign.

Sane was brought back into the Germany setup following the nation's disappointment in Russia but has been sidelined since August after suffering cruciate knee ligament damage in the Community Shield win over Liverpool. The 24-year-old showed his commitment to the national team by having surgery with a doctor used by the Germany squad rather than Pep Guardiola's preferred surgeon.

A return date is yet to be decided with the player having only just started training again at the Etihad, but Low has been pleased with how the rehabilitation from a serious injury has gone.

As he finalises plans for the next major tournament, the coach indicated that Sane will be given every chance to prove his fitness over the coming months when he gets back into the City team.

"Regarding the Euros, I hope my national players will stay in form and clear of injuries," he told Goal.

"Leroy Sane and Niklas Süle will get all the time they need following their severe knee injuries and we are happy, they're progressing well."
