Germany boss claims leaving Man City for Bayern Munich would be good for Leroy Sane

Germany manager Joachim Löw has stated it would be good for the national side if Leroy Sane moved to Bayern Munich.

The Bundesliga champions are in the market for attacking reinforcements this summer after losing both Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben, who see their contracts at the club expire.

Earlier this week, Bayern Munich chief Uli Hoeness confirmed his side were interested in the 23-year-old and reports in Germany continue to speculate that a transfer will occur.

Löw has now waded in with his thoughts on the matter, which don’t make for good hearing for City fans.

“I believe he feels quite good at Manchester City, but I don’t know what he’s currently thinking,” he told Bild .

“Bavaria is always a good destination. If the change does come about, it would be a good story for him and for us.”

Löw was also asked if he regretted omitting Sane from his squad for the 2018 World Cup, where he was not picked despite winning the PFA Young Player of the Year award in City’s title-winning campaign.

However, the experienced manager stands by his choice and said his only regret was the side he played against Mexico.

“I talked to Leroy just before the final announcement. We agreed on a few things. I wasn’t fully convinced by him during the preparation, while Julian Brandt, for example, was great.”
