The trial of a 28-year-old German woman, who pretended to be a billionaire's daughter and stole around $275,000 through multiple scams, kicked off in New York this week.
Reportedly, Anna S. whose real name is Anna Delvey, pretended to be a German heiress so she can taste the high life in New York, and steal thousands of dollars by scamming banks, companies, and individuals between November 2016 and August 2018.
"This defendant's alleged criminal conduct spans from cheque fraud to six-figure stolen loans and includes schemes that resulted in a free trip to Morocco and travel on private planes," Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance said in 2017 when the woman was indicted.
According to the indictment, Delvey tried to secure a $22 million loan to open a private club and tricked a friend into paying approximately $62,000 worth of travel expenses for a six-night trip to Morocco, among other offenses.
