Sixty German students have come up with a new initiative dubbed "Egypt is beautiful…come to visit it" at the Luxor temple, in cooperation with civil and state institutions.
During the inauguration ceremony earlier this week, Luxor's Deputy Governor Mohamed Abdel Qader Khairy said: "The initiative organized by the "Sona3 elkair" community organization, and Isis Cultural Society, aims at boosting tourism, and sending positive messages to tourists around the world, saying that Egypt, and mostly Luxor, are ready to welcome them."
For his part, Mostapha Zamzam, Sona3 Elkair's chairman of the Board of Trustees, said: "Despite the simplicity of the initiative, it will have a wide and positive echo, before the new tourism season in Luxor kicks off."
Egyptian tourism experts greeted the initiative and asserted it will contribute to re-boosting tourism in all Egyptian cities, especially after the German TUIfly airlines recently revealed plans to increase its activity from Germany to Egypt by 20 percent, starting from November. The airline plans to operate a total 27 weekly flights from German to Egyptian airports (19 flights among them are to Hurghada).
Egyptian media reports said that the coming season will be the first since the January 25 Revolution in 2011, to witness 95 percent of hotel room reservations in Luxor.
