German midfielder confirms Liverpool transfer move with Instagram update

Liverpool appear to have added another exciting young talent to their academy ranks in the form of 16-year-old Melkamu Frauendorf, judging by the teenager's Instagram account.

The Ethiopia-born German youth international has been tracked by the Reds for some time, and it appears as though he has now made the move from the Hoffenheim youth setup to link up with the Reds.

Frauendorf - an attacking midfielder who can also play wide on the left - saw his youth contract at Hoffenheim run out this summer, and the Reds have seemingly swooped to bring the highly-rated teenager to Merseyside ahead of a queue of rivals.

A quick glance at Frauendorf's Instagram biography now shows that he lists Liverpool as his club, as well as the fact the he is a Nike athlete.

Frauendorf has scored seven goals and provided five assists for Hoffenheim's under-17s side, for whom he has played in the last two seasons.

Liverpool have a brief history with Hoffenheim having signed Roberto Firmino from the Bundesliga club back in 2015.

The Reds also faced them in a Champions League playoff at the beginning of the 2017/18 season, winning 6-3 on aggregate as they started out on the road to the Kiev final.

Frauendorf would link up with the club's youth academy should he complete the move this summer, with the Reds making changes in personnel in that department following former under-23s coach Neil Cricthley's move to Blackpool's first-team in March.

Former under-18s boss Barry Lewtas has stepped up to be the 23s head coach, with ex-Portsmouth and West Ham midfielder Gary O'Neil recently appointed as his assistant.

The ex-Port Vale and Carlisle winger Marc Bridge-Wilkinson became the new coach of the under-18s in May.
