German Masters snooker: Mark Allen has a 'feeling' about next title win

Refreshed Northern Ireland potter Mark Allen believes he’s on the verge of a big title win.

Antrim cue ace Allen has overcome some debilitating off-table troubles in the past few weeks after enduring a year from hell.

The financial issues which threatened the former Masters champion’s playing career were sorted in December and Allen had a successful court appearance regarding access to daughter Harleigh earlier this month.

Allen is preparing for the German Masters where he kicks off his bid for the tasty £80,000 top prize against China’s Lyu Haotian on Thursday morning.

The tournament is being held at the 2,500-seat Tempodrom in Berlin, and is the first major snooker event overseas for two years due to the pandemic.

“I feel like there’s something around the corner for me,” stressed Allen.

“I know it hasn’t showed on the match table yet, but I’m feeling really good.

“The threat about not playing anymore is gone and that’s massive because it’s in the back of your mind.

“Snooker is the only thing I’m good at so I’m pleased that side of it is sorted.

“I feel like I’ve done pretty well with everything that’s happened.”
