A German man will face trial in Tasmania over the alleged murder of a woman whose body was found in a house in the state's north on Boxing Day.

Tobias Pick, 27, entered a not guilty plea to the charge on Thursday during a brief appearance via video link in Launceston Magistrates Court.

He is accused of murdering 49-year-old Jingai Zhang, who was found dead on December 26.

Pick is scheduled to appear in the Launceston Supreme Court on April 26 for a directions hearing.

A stealing charge linked to the alleged murder has been adjourned indefinitely.
