While spending their vacation in Morocco, a German family forced a thief who broke into their house in the region of Saarland, western Germany, to flee with the help of modern technologies.
German police said Tuesday that the couple’s son had installed a surveillance app on his smartphone that alarmed him the moment the thief broke into the house, reported the German News Agency.
The smartphone also provided the family with the images captured by surveillance camera, and allowed them to see how the thief tried to open the door while handling a flashlight.
Given that the system has kept the boy connected to the house, the family managed to remotely control the internal communication system "interphone", and used it to scare the thief, said the police.
The incident took place earlier this month, but details were revealed after the family returned from their vacation. The investigations are ongoing.
